• Members of CartoGeoLab are the co-organisers and associates of the innovative, intensive post-graduate specialisation course, in english Reviving thematic cartography into digital to be held in the University IUAV of Venice, November 2017. • Members of CartoGeoLab visited the Chang'an University in Xi'an, China, 18-27 November 2016 for invited lectures and discussions with prof. dr.-ing Lichun Sui and his graduate students in mapping sciences and technologies as well as with the international affairs authorities of Chang'an University concening institutional cooperation and academic exchanges.

• Members of the CartoGeoLab contribute to the post-graduade workshop Explorations in Digital Humanities. Case studies and problem-solving, Nova University of Lisbon, 6-9 September 2016.

• The CartoGeoLab is organising the annual international ICA Conference Digital Approaches to Cartographic Heritage, the 12th to be held in Venice, April 2017

• Τhe CartoGeoLab members participate in seminars and tutorias addressed to in-service professional in various fields related with maps and cartographic heritage. Here, the participants and the tutors of the international tutorial Georeference for non-experts addressed to map librarians and archivists held in Corfu, April 2015, at the General State Archives

• Τhe CartoGeoLab supports the work of the Commission on Cartographic Heritage into the Digital of the International Cartographic Association. Members of the Cartoheritage Group, now part of CartoGeoLab, are assisting the Commission Chair since the establishment of the Commission in 2006

• The CartoGeoLab has signed in 31.3.2016 a cooperation agreement with the Cartography & GIS Lab of the University IUAV of Venice

• Prof. Ferjan Ormeling, Utrecht, awarded the title of Doctor honoris causa by the Faculty of Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki after the proposal presented by AUTH professors Evangelos Livieratos, Chrysoula Boutoura and Alexandra Koussoulakou
